Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 281mm x 215mm. Quarto Half bound brown leather on marbled boards. Red leather title and volume plates to spine in gilt. Slight bumping and rubbing to boards. Re-bound in 1978 on original boards (note from binder). Marked 'association copy'. Book plate from first owner "John Sheriven M.D." who has written notes in the flyleaf. Also bookplate of Lauren of Pullar, Dunbarney. Unpaginated. A truly nice set. "Illustrated The Words In Their Different Significations, by examples from ancient and modern writers, shewing affinity to those other languages, and especially the Northern; explaining many termsw, which though now obsolete in England, were formerly common to both countries; and elucidating national rites, customs, and institutions, in their analogy to those other nations; to which is prefixed a dissertation on the origin of the Scottish language.".
